 Suzanne Kennedy, RN

I am a 1994 graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing and in 2006 obtained my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Eastern Mennonite University. I am married to my husband Mike and we have two grown children and five amazing grandchildren. I have 20 years of work experience in community health and home care nursing. It is my passion to provide holistic care to the elderly, serve as an advocate, and offer support so they can maintain their independence and age in their homes for as long as possible. I view each day as an opportunity to positively impact our clients’ lives and it is a privilege to be part of the PA Home Care Team.

I was born and raised in Lancaster County.  This area has a very large elder population, and as a result, I grew up being in tune to the respective needs of my elder neighbors.  I studied Government and Economics at Millersville University, because I was interested in the way that people organize themselves.  I spent approximately three months as an intern in Harrisburg on the Independent Regulatory Review Commission.  I found my experience working in Harrisburg a bit unrewarding because I didn’t feel a personal enough connection to the constituents affected by the regulations and bills that were under review.  I have found a much more satisfying mission in elder care.  It gives me the opportunity to help people in need.  I am able to visit their homes, and I see the ways in which our assistance has relieved some of their hardship.  I am proud to help these folks age with dignity and maintain as much of their independence as possible, for as long as possible, in the comfort and safety of their own homes.

I have lived in Lancaster County all my life. I have two wonderful children who keep me very busy!   I enjoy working with the caregivers. It’s nice to help those who are out in the field making a difference in so many of our neighbors’ lives. I also enjoy working with and speaking to our clients. It is such a blessing to have the opportunity to make someone else’s life a little easier.

I was born and raised in Lancaster County and have lived here all of my life.  I’ve been happily married for the last seventeen years to my wonderful husband.  I first found my passion for caregiving in 2004, when my mother was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor.  I moved in with my parents because my father was visually impaired and could not take care of all of my mothers’ needs.  That is when I was first introduced to Hospice.  They taught me how to bathe her, comfort her, and take care of all her daily needs, since she was bedbound.  She passed away two months later, then my father moved in with my husband and me.  We began to take care of him.  The first five years he was fairly independent, but during the last two years his congestive heart failure and his leukemia worsened.  He passed away in 2011.  I started working for PA Home Care in January 2009.  I wanted to do something part-time and since I had already been taking care of my parents, and enjoyed that, I knew this would be a perfect fit.  I am so glad that I have had the opportunity to help the elderly in our area be comfortable and assist them with all their daily needs.

I have lived in Lancaster County my entire life. In fact, I took piano lessons as a young girl in the house that is now the PA Home Care office. My husband, Bruce and I have been married for 30 years and we have one son, Kyle and a cat, Richard. On my day’s off we enjoy going to antique stores and flea markets to look for old Pennsylvania bottles which my husband collects. I love to cook, read and work on crossword puzzles. I graduated from Millersville University with a degree in Business. This took me to managing a retail shop store for many years. In early 2013, the opportunity presented itself to switch career paths and I began caregiving for PA Home Care. I will continue to provide care to our wonderful clients for as long as my work in the office allows. Helping the elderly stay in their homes is a most rewarding feeling. The people I provide care for are so appreciative and thankful for everything I do for them. It is a joy to go to work every day and know you made a difference in someone’s day.

All of our caregivers are bonded and insured.  They are thoroughly screened through multiple background and reference checks.  Our RNs and support staff supervise all care through scheduled, as well as random, spot checks.  All of our caregivers are employees of PA Home Care of Lancaster; we cover their workers compensation and liability insurances, as well as meeting all Federal, State and Local tax responsibilities.

Ongoing training and professional development opportunities are freely embraced by caregivers and support staff, and many have experience with Specialty Care, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Hospice care.

“With Hearts and Hands, We Care”, and our conscientious personnel from office and support staff to Nurses and Social Workers to each and every Quality Care Assistant will demonstrate that for you or your loved one.

All Care and Training is RN Supervised

Our goal is your satisfaction.  We want you to happily, safely, and comfortably age in place in your own home.  A FREE RN assessment at the start of care with a basic home safety survey is included.
